Benefits of Jasmine Essential Oil
The
Jasminum grandiflorum vine, commonly known as
Royal Jasmine, grows up
to 40 feet in length. Gardeners prize the plant for its ability to grow
quickly and cover trellises
with evergreen foliage and small, white flowers. All parts of the plant
present medicinal properties; Asian and Indian peoples used Jasmine
traditionally as aphrodisiac, antibiotic and anti-fungal treatment.
Jasmine essential oil is also a skin ally. As an antiseptic, jasmine
will cleanse the skin of impurities. It also will help to
balance oily,
sensitive skin, and nourish a dry scalp.
It is also a cicatrisant, which
means that it encourages healing by helping with scar tissue. In this
way, jasmine can be used to treat both stretch marks and scaring. For a
facial oil, blend 6 drops of essential oil for every ounce of jojoba
oil. Blend with lavender essential oil as well to help treat acne or
inflamed skin. For the body, use 25 drops in 8 ounces of unscented
lotion, or the same amount blended with almond, apricot, grape seed, or
olive oil.
